Retirement
Retirement benefits are through the State of Oregon: Public Employees Retirement System (PERS). You are automatically enrolled in PERS once you have completed 600 hours of service. If you are coming to us from another PERS employer and there’s been a break of six months or less between periods of employment, you will not have to go through the six month waiting period.
- You don’t have to do anything to enroll in PERS – it will happen automatically. Once enrolled, you will contribute 6% of your monthly paycheck to PERS (deducted on a pre-tax basis).
- The Two Parts to your PERS Retirement — This animated video provides a general overview of the two basic components of PERS benefits: PERS pension and the Individual Account Program (IAP).
- While you cannot contribute additional funds to PERS (except to make up the difference for member contributions being directed to EPSA), you can independently add to your retirement through your own 403(b) or 457(b). You may sign up for one of these plans at any time. For more information, please visit Carruth Compliance Consulting at https://www.ncompliance.com/guest_employees.aspx?EmployerID=34
